What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy refers to a large number of treatment methods, all of which make use of one or more of the natural benefits of play. All Play Therapy differs from regular play in that the therapist helps children systematically address and resolve their own problems. Since play is fun, it makes it easier for children to confront what is bothering them. Once children have expressed and addressed their problems through play, the therapist will be better able to help them find solutions for their problems in life.

While play is a natural process for children, play and Play Therapy can be helpful to people of all ages with a variety of presenting concerns.

OKPT-CC is proud to offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
OKPT-CC is one of two agencies in Enid and the surrounding area who offers this specialized type of counseling.
What is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy?
PCIT is an empirically supported treatment for children ages 2-7 with disruptive behaviors. PCIT emphasizes changing the parent-child interactions. Parent are taught skills to develop strong, positive relationships while reducing the child's undesirable behaviors. This techniques is also shown to be effective with children ages 4-12 who have a history of exposure to domestic violence, physical abuse, neglect, or prenatal substance exposure.
OKPT-CC offers the only Registered Play Therapist (to date) in Garfield and surrounding counties.
OKPT-CC is also fully equipped with Play Therapy, Sandtray, Art Expression
and Parent-child Interacton Therapy rooms.
OKPT-CC is also contracted with and funded by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to Provide Child Trauma Services.
